1. About us

2. These terms

These terms apply when you buy a made-to-order piece or a re-upholstery service from us as a consumer. They don't affect your legal rights. If you're buying for a business, please ask us for our trade terms.

3. Prices

Prices on our website are guide prices and include VAT. The exact price will be finalised once all the details — such as measurements, fabric, finish and delivery — are confirmed by email. Guide prices may change before we confirm your order, and if we've made an obvious mistake in a price we'll let you know before going ahead.

Delivery charges, if any, will be confirmed with your price.

4. How an order is made

Sending an enquiry or a “Request to order” from our website doesn't create a contract. We'll email you to confirm the details and the exact price. A contract is formed only when you accept that confirmation and we confirm in writing that we're going ahead.

5. Payment

We don't take payment through the website. Our order confirmation will tell you how and when to pay, including any deposit we ask for before we order materials or start work. Ownership of your piece passes to you once it's been paid for in full.

6. Made to your specification

Each piece is made to the details in our order confirmation, so please check them carefully — especially measurements and fabric. The previews and photographs on our website are illustrations: colours vary between screens, and printed or natural fabrics can vary in shade and pattern position from batch to batch. Because every piece is made by hand, small variations are part of its character and aren't faults.

7. Your own fabric

You're welcome to supply your own fabric. We'll tell you how much we need. We're not responsible for flaws, shading, shrinkage or shortfalls in fabric you supply, or for faults caused by a fabric that isn't suitable for upholstery.

By law, upholstered furniture sold in the UK must meet the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988. If your fabric doesn't meet these on its own, it will need a fire-resistant treatment or interliner, which may add to the price. We'll let you know before going ahead.

8. Delivery and collection

We'll agree a delivery or collection date with you. Lead times are estimates — typically 4–6 weeks for new pieces — and we'll keep you updated if anything changes. Your piece is your responsibility once it's been delivered to you or collected.

9. Changing your mind

Because each piece is made to your specifications, the 14-day right to cancel that usually applies to online and distance purchases doesn't apply once your order is confirmed (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, regulation 28(1)(b)). If you change your mind before we've ordered materials or started work, contact us as soon as possible: we'll cancel your order and refund what you've paid, less any costs we've reasonably incurred, such as fabric cut for your order.

For re-upholstery, if your contract was agreed away from our workshop (for example by email or phone), you can cancel within 14 days. If you asked us to start work within that period, you'll pay for the work done up to the point you cancel.

10. If something's wrong

We're required by law to supply goods that are as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality, and to provide services with reasonable care and skill. If there's a problem, please tell us as soon as possible. Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to a repair, a replacement, a price reduction or a refund. This doesn't cover fair wear and tear, damage caused by misuse, or faults in fabric you've supplied.

11. Re-upholstery

Quotes based on photographs are estimates. Once a piece is stripped back, we sometimes find hidden problems, such as loose joints, broken rails, woodworm or perished springs. If extra work is needed, we'll tell you what it is and what it costs before we do it.

We take reasonable care of your furniture while it's with us. When it's ready, we'll let you know. If it isn't collected, or delivery arranged, within 30 days of that notice, we may charge a reasonable storage fee — we'll always contact you before doing so.

12. Our responsibility to you

We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that's a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for loss that isn't foreseeable. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for breaching your legal rights as a consumer. Our pieces are made for domestic use, so we're not responsible for business losses.

13. Your information

We use your personal information as set out in our privacy notice.

14. Other important terms

If a court decides that part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Nobody else has any rights under these terms. They're governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts there.
